Unlocking Possibilities With the Hip Key
Every aerial contortionist needs to know the hip key. It’s a foundational move that opens doors to a world of possibilities. Begin by standing with the fabric on the outside of one foot and the inside of the other. Pull some slack with both feet to create a secure base. Now, scissor the legs, bringing the outside leg up high and the other leg back and down.
Lean to the side in the process and allow your head and feet to drop lower than the hips. Imagine the fabric wrapping around the lower back, creating a secure hold, and that’s it! You’ve mastered the hip key!
