Astonishing Human Effort

With the summer sun overhead, the team started building the dam. And its size wasn’t the dam’s only impressive feature. In just three days, the team needed to pour over 28,000 tons of different blockage materials into the river.
Of course, as you know, this doesn’t just happen on its own. 1,200 trucks and thousands of workers teamed up together to move all the material to the site and into the river. The project, one of the biggest in the United States Army history, required constant work, day and night. However, in the end, it all paid off. For the first time ever, the water stopped flowing over Niagara Falls!
