Mammoth Construction Needed

As you might imagine, stopping 85,000 cubic feet of water each second is no easy task, even for the experienced U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. But, soon enough, they had a plan. The team designed a dam over 30 feet tall and 600 feet long that would stretch across the Niagara River.
Then, the team would also need to find a way and place to redirect the water. Even with the dam designed, it still seemed like an impossible task. Would they accomplish it? Well, there was only one way to find out! In the summer of 1969, the team from the Corps of Engineers started work on draining Niagara Falls.
