A Mom Elephant’s Happiest Rescue

Nothing beats the feeling of finishing the job and getting your loved one back safe. This mama elephant was about to do exactly that, and the villagers could practically feel her excitement. The moment she realized the digging was done, she zeroed in on what mattered most, getting to her baby.

With a happy flick of her trunk, she looped it around the muddy, woozy calf and carefully tugged him up. He was caked in mud and looked a little stunned, but you could tell he was glad to be out. The villagers stood there, wide-eyed, as mom and baby found each other again, both clearly relieved. The worst of it was almost behind them, and watching that reunion warmed everyone’s heart.
