She Just Wouldn’t Quit

This elephant had the oddest routine. She’d dig for a while, pause to catch her breath, then go right back at it, even though she was clearly wearing herself out. Her pace slowed, her body looked heavy with fatigue, but she still wouldn’t stop. From a safe distance, the villagers watched, equal parts curious and uneasy.
No one could tell what was down in that hole, and nobody dared get close enough to check. Everyone was tense, because they knew a single wrong step could set her off, and that could turn dangerous fast. Still, they couldn’t shake the worry, what could possibly push her to dig like that? What was she trying to reach? The whole scene had everyone guessing.
