Gladiator: Modern Undies

Making a historically accurate film is no easy task. If anything’s out of place, eagle-eyed viewers will spot it – like this blunder from Gladiator! In the film, Russell Crowe portrays a Roman soldier-turned-gladiator, Maximus, bent on vengeance following the murder of his family. While director Ridley Scott nearly nailed the world of ancient Rome, he got one thing wrong: the underwear!
During one of the most intense fights of the movie, Maximus falls to the ground, directly facing the camera, and exposes a pair of Lycra shorts under his tunic. Needless to say, the Romans did not wear Lycra shorts!
