Tusks and Zzz’s: A Walrus’s Water Nap
A walrus was recently caught in a rather cozy scene, napping contentedly in a boat, its impressive tusks draped casually over the edge. Walruses are fascinating creatures, known for their distinctive tusks, which grow up to 3 feet long and are used for fighting, dominance displays, and helping them haul out onto slippery ice.
They’re also quite social and often seen lounging together on ice floes. While walruses are generally not aggressive towards humans, they can be protective if they feel threatened, especially during mating season or when defending their young. This walrus’s boat nap highlights their more placid, relaxed nature when in a safe and undisturbed environment.
