Operation Rollup

As Mueller learned, operation Rollup was the United States’ military’s way of “dealing” with vehicles like tanks, planes, and jeeps that were brought across the Pacific during World War II. You see, it made total sense for the government to pay the bill to get the vehicles into combat. However, it would cost even more to have the planes, tanks, and other mobiles shipped back across the Pacific!
So, surprisingly, the strategy sometimes was to simply dump the tanks and the planes into the Pacific and let them sink to the bottom of the ocean. This was the reason that the aircraft were in such good shape – they were never even used!
