Upset and Embarrassed
As Tony explained to the Today Show, what the middle school considers a “problem” isn’t really a problem at all. When it comes down to it, Demetra is just a regular 13-year-old girl in middle school who simply wants a normal life.
“[Demetra’s] not a sex symbol. She just wants to be comfortable and attend class and we’re not affording her that opportunity,” Tony stated clearly. To make school even harder, Tony said that Demetra felt “both embarrassed and upset” after being “pulled out of class in front of everyone.” Now, after all his research, the young girl’s father finally felt ready to make his first move: alert the community at large.
