For a particular portion of the population, watching Jersey Shore was something of a rite of passage. The reality show about dumb young adults partying too hard and loving too much managed to make the audience feel the entire spectrum of emotion: from extreme anger and laughter to heartbreak. While certain parts of Jersey Show were 100% real, and the cast members certainly got along, others were not…

As most of the Jersey Shore cast later revealed, most of the biggest, most over-the-top dramatic moments were actually the producers’ brainchild on the set. Likewise, don’t think you actually saw the real cast members. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino told reporters that MTV once made him change shirts because they were in a legal battle with the shirt maker in question.
