10. In The Navy

If you’re having a hard time guess this one, no worries – once again, it’s Prince Phillip. He sure has changed a lot! This image comes from Philip’s years as a Royal Navy lieutenant, when he worked on the HMS Wallace. By the way, Philip was not a Royal family member who sat around and did nothing during his time in the military. Quite the opposite! In 1943, during the Sicily Invasion, he commanded his ship as it rescued another vessel from a night bomber attack.
In the midst of the rescue, Philip had the ingenious idea to throw his wooden rafts overboard, with smoke floats attached. When the enemy saw the smoking debris, they believed they had sunk the ship, giving Philp and his ship plenty of time to make the rescue!
