Six-Month Adventure

This story begins just as Tami Oldham Ashcraft, a California native, and her British fiancé, Richard Sharp, finished a six-month sailing trip around Fiji, in 1983. A way to commemorate their recent engagement, it had been a magical trip, one that they would remember forever. Two lifelong sailors, Ashcraft and Sharp never felt more alive, or happier, than when they were out on the water.

While Ashcraft and Sharp truly enjoyed sailing the blue-green waters in Sharp’s fantastic, 36-foot sailboat, the couple decided that it was time to return to everyday life. Little did the two of them know that this magical trip would soon turn into a living nightmare…
