Lukasik’s Homage to Rita

A few years after her mother’s passing, Lukasik decided to document her unique and unbelievable journey, in a book entitled While Like Her. By sharing her mother’s story, Lukasik wanted to make a difference in the lives of many people, especially those who had problems accepting themselves or their heritage.

Through White Like Her, Lukasik hopes to promote equality of all races, while also encouraging people to treat anyone in a fair manner, so that no other person of color would have to go through what her mother did, undertaking the horrible quest of concealing her own identity in other to better fit into the society.
