The Lion King (1994) – It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s A…Word?

Sometimes, the most paused moments in movie history are also some of the most divisive. Take this scene from the beloved 1994 animated film The Lion King. When you look up at the sky behind the lions, do you only see a starry night sky? Or do you see something far more PG-13?
According to many parents, the letters in the sky say one thing, but Disney swears that the stars, in fact, read “S-F-X,” the common abbreviation for special effects. Regardless of who’s telling the truth, we think maybe animators should stick to the story from here on out.
