Looking at the double red lines, Crotts could not believe her life had changed so much in just a matter of minutes. “That $6.99 plastic stick read everything about me, my past, my future, and who I would be labeled as for the rest of my life,” Crotts said. Heartbroken, the young teenager felt doomed to become just another forgotten adult. “I didn’t need a mirror to look into, that stick showed my reflection perfectly, a teenage pregnancy, a statistic.”
While Crotts felt utterly shocked by the news of her pregnancy, she did the best she could to try and remain calm in the following days. Soon, she needed to make an important decision: keep her child or put it up for adoption?
