House Hunters – Fake

If you have never seen an episode of House Hunters, the entire show is in the title. Potential buyers tour three houses, consider them, and then buy one. Given how straightforward it seems, it feels like House Hunters should be impossible to fake. But that’s not the case!

Believe it or not, the majority of the time, the homebuyers on House Hunters have already picked the home they want. In some cases, they’ve already purchased it! So all that drama? Fake! HGTV commented on the allegations in 2012: “We’re making a television show, so we manage certain production and time constraints, while honoring the home buying process. To maximize production time, we seek out families who are pretty far along in the process.” That sounds like an admission to us!
