Hoarders – Real

It would be pretty hard to fake a show like Hoarders. After all, it follows people with compulsive hoarding disorder, a “mental illness that causes those afflicted to literally hoard possessions to such an extent that their homes and sometimes lives are endangered.” To fake it would not only cost a lot, but also leave quite a bad taste in viewers’ mouths.

So, it should come as no surprise that Hoarders is very real. A&E does not stage any of the hoards and no one earns any money for going on the show. The channel does cover all the expenses, however, including the therapy and trash removal.
