Today, NFL player Russell Wilson has married singer Ciara and has two children with her. However, long before that, he married his high school sweetheart, Ashton Meem. The two first met while growing up in Virginia. “We met briefly in high school. Then again at a summer party and after that started seeing each other,” Meem said.

When Meem left to attend the University of Georgia, they continued their long-distance relationship. After she completed her education, the pair got engaged and tied the knot in 2012. Then, just two years later, Wilson announced that he wanted to separate from his teenage love. “Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding, and privacy during this difficult time,” Wilson said.
