Catch Me if You Can: Are Those Braces?

Audiences love Amy Adams – even when she looks goofy in a set of braces! Before she became a household name, Adams starred in the 2002 film, Catch Me If You Can, alongside Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. Set in the ’60s, the actress stars as a naive young nurse with a set of massive braces.
While the large metal braces certainly give Adams’ character, Brenda, a unique look, she would not have worn them. Braces only became popular years later, in the 1970s! Still, the look remains so iconic that fans are happy to overlook the inaccuracy. Producers even kept it in when Catch Me If You Can became a Broadway musical in the 2010s.
