The Last Samurai: Armor’s Too Old

Around the same time legendary actor Tom Cruise was jumping all over Oprah Winfrey’s couch over falling madly in love with now ex-wife Katie Holmes, he starred in the 2003 film, The Last Samurai. To this date, The Last Samurai is one of Cruise’s most popular films whatsoever.

The historical films tells the story of a retired U.S. officer who happens to come in contact with Japanese samurai warriors. While the movie was a complete success at the box office, there was a huge wardrobe mishap. In the movie, Cruise is featured wearing samurai armor, but the suit the actor wore was actually used 250 years prior to the time period the movie is set in.
