The Tudors: Wearing Ruffs

Fashion is a huge part of a film’s success, especially if it’s a periodical film. Okay, the problem in this photo is not exactly the ruffs that they decided to use, but what they are not. In the film The Tudors, the women were portrayed wearing ruffs around their necks.
However, as much as we would like to think that this simply a fashion statement, this is definitely not a very accurate look. Not for Western European women in the 1500s, anyway. You see, using ruffs without an undershirt would have been something that only the most rebellious of women from that time because they would commit the sin of showing a little skin!
