Singin’ in the Rain: Pink Dress

When the late, great Debbie Reynolds starred in Singin’ in the Rain, she likely never expected the film to become one of the most iconic movies of the ’50s. Now, almost a century later, teachers and professors still teach Singin’ in the Rain every year in film classes worldwide. However, despite earning its place in the National Film Registry, the movie does have a small wardrobe malfunction.
Watching now, it’s easy to see: all the dresses from the film are clearly designs from the 1950s. While that would have been fine if Singin’ in the Rain was a contemporary film, but it’s set in the 1920s! Once again, we have an instance of popular trends bleeding into historical movies.
