A Rare Diagnosis

Since the day Broc Brown entered the world, he had not stopped growing. By five, he had reached the height of an adult and, finally, at seven, his mother decided to have a doctor look at the boy. After seeing a few specialists, they finally determined that Broc suffered from a condition called Sotos Syndrome, which affects about one in every 15,000 people.
Also known as “cerebral gigantism,” Sotos Syndrome is caused by a rare gene mutation, and there is no known cure. “There’s nothing that can stop him from growing – I don’t know if he will ever stop,” his mother said.
