Queen Elizabeth and Philip – 73 Years Together
In centuries past, royal marriages were usually arranged. Nowadays, however, that’s a thing of the past. Just ask Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who first met in 1934, at the marriage of Princess Marina and Prince George. After a second meeting in 1937 and another in 1939, the two love birds began sending each other love letters. From there, the rest is history!
In 1947, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip tied the knot in one of the largest royal weddings of all time at Westminster Abbey. Just before the wedding, Prince Philip had to give up princedom, becoming the Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich instead. Hey, that’s not a bad trade!
