John Arne Riise, Soccer Player – Poor Spending Habits

John Arne Riise, a professional soccer player, is actually one of the youngest athletes ever to go completely broke. In fact, things became so dire that his former agent, Einar Baardsen, fired him! According to Riise, he lost his fortune due to “poor management of his money” and bad investments from his manager.

Reportedly, the soccer player owed approximately 100,000 pounds ($127,000) in debt after declaring bankrupt, despite earning about 50,000 pounds a week! So, in 2005, Baardsen stopped representing him due to lack of pay, and the pair are still battling it out in the courts today. Hopefully, Riise can manage to turn things around and return to his former glory!
