Darren McCarthy, Detriot Red Wings – Debt

Darren McCarthy became a household name for hockey fans during his time with the Detroit Red Wings in the ’90s. During that time, McCarthy not only made more than $15 million, but he also made some poor financial decisions. As a result, the hockey star filed for bankruptcy just a few years ago, stating he had no cash left!

When he filed, the hockey player claimed that $6 million of what he owned was to creditors. Talk about some serious credit card bills! Over the years, McCarthy had seemingly become accustomed to a particular luxury lifestyle that he could no longer afford after retirement! Now, he does endorsement for loan companies and the types, as you can see in the photo above.
