Character: Mary Cooper

Mary Cooper is Sheldon’s ultra-religious mom who lives in Texas and works for the local church. On her visits to Pasadena, Cooper is still a very protective mother, and she and her son have a stark difference of opinion on matters like religion and science. While Mary doesn’t understand Sheldon’s work, she’s still very proud of him.

However, some times, Cooper’s motherly charm can drop and she can run out of patience. “I love the boy to death, but he has been difficult since he fell out of me at the K-Mart,” she famously said. Meanwhile, Sheldon describes his mom as a “kind, loving, religiously fanatical, right-wing Texan, with a slightly out of scale head and a mild Dr. Pepper addiction.”
