Ben Sasse and Melissa McLeod – Together Since 1995

Ben Sasse and Melissa McLeod Sasse, who met in college, have been building a life together since their marriage in 1995. Melissa, an alumna of the University of Alabama and Georgia Mason University, faced a significant challenge in 2007 with a brain aneurysm at 37, but remarkably recovered within six months.

Today, Melissa dedicates her time to teaching their three children – Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Breck—at home. This shift reflects her commitment to both education and family. Meanwhile, Ben’s political career advanced significantly, with his election to the U.S. Senate in 2014 and subsequent reelection in 2020. Together, they navigate the blend of public service and private family life.
