Questions Without Answers

Scientists, geneticists, and zoologists arrived with questions Hana couldn’t answer. DNA tests were underway, and theories ranged from genetic anomalies to undocumented species. But no one could explain the bear’s behavior. “Maternal projection” was the term most used, though it hardly seemed enough to capture what they’d witnessed in that hospital room.

Peter documented everything, but even his footage couldn’t quite convey the raw emotion of the bear’s first howl when reunited with the pups. Steve sometimes dropped by too, still amazed by the night’s events. Hana, however, avoided the spotlight. Her connection to the animals and to their story was something too personal to perform.
