A Safe New Home
By the end of the week, arrangements were made with a trusted wildlife sanctuary with which Peter often collaborated. The grounds had secure habitats, veterinary teams, and the capacity to care for unusual hybrids. The pups would have space to grow. The bear could remain close, monitored, but free from fear.
Transport was delicate. Hana rode in the back with the pups, whispering to them the entire way. The bear traveled in a trailer beside them, tranquilized only enough to ensure calm without distress. When they arrived, she woke groggy but alert, eyes immediately searching for the tiny creatures she had fought to protect.
