A New Law

It may seem strange, but not every state allows for adopted children to access their original birth certificate. After all, some parents want to be protected from their adopted offspring. However, all across the United States, these laws are changing. For years, in Pennsylvania, where Stacey Faix gave birth at the age of 15-years-old, adopted children could not access their birth certificates. But in November 2017, that all changed.
The state passed a law, HB 162, that allowed adopted children to request a copy of their birth certificate, with their parents’ names attached. All Faix could do now was hope that her son requested the birth certificate…
