When Favell woke up from the surgery, she asked to see the cyst that had grown inside her. When she did, she could not believe what she saw. It was a large, strange mass, that looked like something out of a horror film, describing it as a “medical alien.”
At 60 pounds, Favell’s cyst remains one of the largest ever removed from a human being. However, believe it or not, it’s not the largest! While Favell might remain a medical mystery, almost certainly nothing will ever top the 320-pound ovarian cyst removed from a woman in 1902. Still, while some believe that might be a fake, no one disputes the 70 lb. cyst removed from a woman in 2017!
