Leaving Europe Behind

According to Lukyanova, her father’s two jobs made just as big of an impact on her as her Barbie dolls. Of course, her dad led quite the life as a construction worker who moonlighted as a DJ at night. In time, her father’s dual life helped Lukyanova realize that there was no such thing as a “normal” life.

In 2014, the time came for the future human Barbie to leave her childhood come. Instead of staying in Ukraine, though, she picked somewhere very far away: Mexico! Why? Well, Lukyanova says she wanted somewhere very different than Ukraine, with a lower cost of living. Mexico certainly fit the bill! Back then, the young woman had no idea Mexico would make her forthcoming transformation very easy.
