Patterns by the Beach
This aerial shot of Leme Beach in Rio de Janeiro is all about symmetry, colors, and iconic wavy patterns. The umbrellas look like perfectly arranged tiles, bordered by the distinct black-and-white mosaic of the beachfront walkway. Designed by Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, that wavy pavement pattern is practically a signature of Rio’s Copacabana and Leme beaches.
Leme Beach is a quieter cousin to the famous Copacabana—less crowded but just as scenic. Rio de Janeiro is known for its bustling beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Christ the Redeemer, but drone shots like this remind us that even the simplest designs can stand out as art when seen from above.
