John Thune – Larissa Thune

Larissa Thune may not be in politics like her father, but she’s had her share of big moments, including standing beside him at the USS Pierre keel-laying ceremony in 2023. She became part of the Thune family in 1986, inheriting her dad’s tall stature and warm personality.

After earning a degree in history and political science from Bethel University, she built a life outside the political arena. In 2012, she married Scott Hargens, and three years later, they welcomed their daughter, Henley Joy. She stays out of the spotlight, but her presence at significant events reflects her deep connection to South Dakota.
