Character: Dr. V.M. Koothrappali
Dr. V.M. is a wealthy gynecologist father of Raj. He often appears on the show via video chats, along with his former wife, Mrs. Koothrappali. However, after the two of them got divorced, he appears physically for the first time in “The Clean Room Infiltration.” In that episode, Dr. Koothrappali attends a Christmas party thrown by Amy and meets the entire main cast.
What’s more, he’s constantly nagging Raj to grow up, get married and make something for himself. In fact, he even cut off Raj’s allowance when he found out he was seeing a woman he didn’t approve of. Not only that, but he was also concerned about Raj’s close friendship with Howard, which for him could be a sign that he is gay!
