Underwater Planes

The lagoon of Kwajalein Atoll, where the Airplane Graveyard resides, is the resting place for a huge concentration of both Japanese and American World War II wrecks, including over 25 ships and over 160 airplanes. The airplanes that Mueller found included an F4U Corsair, which landed on its nose in the sand and has remained upright for years, as seen below.
During her dive, Mueller captured other Allied aircraft, including Helldivers, B-25 Mitchell, Curtiss C-46 Commando, and F4F Wildcats. The Airplane Graveyard is also home to the historic American aircraft Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber, once thought lost to time!
