“I’ll never forget the look of shock on his face when the consultant examined me,” Favell recalled later to the BBC. “He said I had a large ovarian mass, and the only option was surgery.” Immediately, the hospital began to process the paperwork on Favell’s surgery and move her to the nearest available surgery slot.

In the meantime, Favell started working with a high-risk obstetrician to talk about the different options available to her, regarding her cyst. Unfortunately, the obstetrician, the type of doctor that deals with ovarian cysts, did not have much good news for the young woman. Things did not look good…
