Plans for a Second Draining

The most recent need for dewatering Niagara Falls began over a century ago, when locals built two stone brides to the largest island near the Falls, Goat Island. Believe it or not, goats actually once inhabited the island, placed there by a local farmer for reasons still unknown!
However, over the years, these bridges have deteriorated and are now at risk of collapsing if nothing is done about it. While Goat Island itself is not inhabited, it is frequently visited by tourists, meaning they also present a health and safety risk. One that could lead to the draining of the Falls once again…
