The Accident
After Burgoyne’s boat crashed against the rocks, the hull smashed apart, and the ship quickly sank into the ocean. Afterward, he found himself stranded in the freezing cold water and rapidly developing hypothermia. In those moments, Burgoyne saw his entire life flash in his mind…he felt sure he would never get out of the sea alive.
Thankfully, patrons at a nearby inn spotted him and called the Coast Guard. In the end, Burgoyne had to stay in out in the cold water for six hours, every moment thinking he would never see another sunrise. Fortunately, he was finally rescued and brought back to the shore.
