Scanners (1981)

Sure, Canadian cult classic Scanners, from director David Cronenberg, didn’t do very well with the critics or at the box office. However, it did launch Cronenberg’s career. He would later go on to helm hits like The Fly, with Jeff Goldblum, and A History of Violence, with Viggo Mortensen.
For those that missed it, Scanners revolves around psychic powers. While we won’t spoil the scene for you, things end quite unfortunately for this man here. The end results are terrifying, explosive, and…gory. It’s sure to blow your mind – literally! Once you see it, you’ll quickly understand why this ultimately became one of the most paused moments in film history!
