Kindness Off the Menu
My jaw almost hit the floor as their tirade barreled in, full force and entirely unprovoked. The sheer rudeness was shocking, especially at this hour. As I scribbled their absurdly long order—dish after dish, far more than two people could eat—a strange unease settled over me.
This wasn’t about food; it was about control. Every smirk and sharp comment revealed how much they enjoyed watching me squirm. I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a game to them, a twisted way to flex power in a place where kindness should’ve been the norm. Yet, I refused to let them win.
