The vet finally stepped out, his gloves off, and his expression serious but not grim. Hana stood instantly. “Are they okay?” Dr. Kamari nodded slowly. “They’ll make it. Barely. One had a fractured leg. Another’s dehydrated. But none of them are beyond saving. You got here just in time.”
Relief washed over Hana, nearly buckling her knees. Peter exhaled sharply. Steve leaned against the wall, head tilted back in silent thanks. “What are they?” Hana asked. Kamari paused, eyes thoughtful. “Honestly? I’m not sure. Some rare hybrid, maybe part bear, part wild dog. I’ve never seen anything like them before.”
