For many years, author and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson remained relatively unknown, like many scientists. However, after founding the American Museum of Natural History’s Department of Astrophysics in 1997, Tyson’s renowned started to grow. Thanks to increasing book sales, PBS eventually hired him as the host of its program Nova ScienceNow in 2006, and Tyson became a household name.
