Sam Elliot broke onto the scene in the ’60s, thanks to minor roles in big westerns like The Way West and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. However, his major breakthrough didn’t come until 1976, when he starred in the drama Lifeguard. While audiences learned to love him as a lifeguard, Elliott’s thick mustache, southern drawl, and deep voice have led to multiple roles as a cowboy. In fact, he played an aging cowboy in the 2017 film The Hero!
