Chaz Bono – Activist and Actor

Few famous kids’ stories are more well-known than that of Chaz Bono, Sonny Bono and Cher’s son. Chaz was born a female named Chasity. Chasity instantly became a household name after appearing numerous times on Sonny and Cher’s titular television show. While still identifying as a woman, Chasity publicly came out as a lesbian in 1995. Unfortunately, this drove a wedge between her and her father. Then, between 2008 and 2010, he underwent gender transformation surgery, becoming Chaz Bono. Since then, Chaz says he has never felt more comfortable or himself.

Now, Chaz mainly works as a trans activist, although he does act now and again. Sadly, Chaz and Sonny never patched up their relationship before the singer’s tragic passing in 1998. Thankfully, Chaz remains on fantastic terms with his mother, and Cher regularly voices her support for everything her son does.
