It might seem crazy, but actress Jamie Lee Curtis knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with director and writer Christopher Guest from the first moment she laid eyes on him. As the actress puts it, “[A friend] and I were flipping through a Rolling Stone magazine when I turned to a photograph of three men. I looked at the man on the right, wearing a plaid shirt and a waggish smirk. I’d never seen him before, but I pointed at him. ‘I’m going to marry that man,’ I said to my friend.”
While she couldn’t have possibly known the future, Curtis was right! Believe it or not, her friends actually knew Guest! So, within a matter of days, Curtis and the director went on a blind date – and instantly fell in love! Today, Curtis and Guest have remained together for 36 years.
Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo – 17 Years Together
Academy Award-winning actress Amy Adams met her now-husband, director Darren Le Gallo (The Master), in an acting class in 2001. Infatuated with the actress, La Gallo cast her in a short film he was making, Pennies. On the set, the two began dating. They got engaged in 2007 but weren’t in a hurry to follow through. They had a daughter, Avianna, in 2010 long before they walked down the aisle.
However, in 2015, it seems that five-year-old Avianna felt displeased with her parents’ marital status and insisted they should get married. So, Adams and Le Gallo held a small, private ceremony on a ranch in California. In an interview with The Guardian in 2016, Adams said how grateful she is for the support Le Gallo gives her personally and professionally.
Keith Richards and Patti Hansen – 41 Years Together
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and supermodel Patti Hansen met in 1979 when the model was celebrating her 23rd birthday in New York City. According to legend, the model convinced Richards to get her a bottle of champagne, a meeting that Richards said involved him feeling “over the moon and peeing in my pants” with excitement.
However, at first, the couple didn’t connect. Still, nine months later, Richards became smitten when the two met once again. “Incredibly, I’ve found a woman. A miracle,” he wrote in his journal. “She is the most beautiful specimen in the WORLD. …It certainly helps, but it’s her mind, her joy of life, and she thinks this battered junkie is the guy she loves.” Richards and Hansen tied the knot in 1983 and now have two children together.
Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford – 22 Years Together
Famous model Cindy Crawford jokingly said that she met husband, male model and entrepreneur Rande Gerber, while “on tequila” in a night club. “I definitely think tequila is the secret [to a happy marriage],” Crawford told Us Weekly. “I mean, we met on tequila!” Unsurprisingly, since then, the two have become involved with multiple tequila ventures, including Casamigos, which Gerber owns with actor George Clooney.
Crawford and Gerber tied the knot back in 1998 and remain in love 22 years later. Together, the couple shares two children, Kaia and Presley, both of whom have decided to follow their parents’ footsteps into a modeling career.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen – 27 Years Together
In 1993, cupid shot his arrow on the set of the dramatic film Pontiac Moon, where actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen first met. From there, the two quickly started and then married in 1995. Since then, they’ve lived happily ever after. In fact, Danson and Steenburgen remain together today, 27 years later.
While almost three decades might seem like a long time to spend with the same person, Danson says they are happier now than they ever have been before. “I’m madly in love with Mary Steenburgen. She’s a remarkable human being, so I’m just incredibly blessed,” the actor told Us Weekly. “It feels like heaven on Earth. If I were to die, I can say I know what it’s like to be loved and to love.”
